Welcome to ZOHAR's on-line art and design gallery.ZOHAR has been a landmark store in Mount Maunganui since 2003, and when we (John and Sylvia) purchased the store in November 2009, we decided to widen the reach of this truly amazing store and enhance its core elements.
Often described as contemporary, stylish, and with exclusive originals, ZOHAR has on display some of the most creative pieces made by New Zealand's best designers and artisans. You will find gorgeous and exquisitely made gifts designed and made in New Zealand and from around the world. Over 90% of these pieces are created by our very own talented New Zealanders.
Our mission is to promote the creativity and uniqueness of our people and their talents; hence our decision to increase the number of NZ designed and made products and gifts held in store. We just love displaying the works of our NZ artisans and designers and encouraging people to celebrate this uniqueness by taking the pieces home with them.
You will find an array of these pieces on-line including original artworks and sculptures. Some of the pieces include, but aren't limited to:
- NZ jewellery by Ali Shannon and Kiri Schumacher, NZ Pounamu (greenstone), and Israeli costume jewellery by Michál Negrin;
- Home and body fragrances by Durance and NZ skin care range by Hema Oil;
- Ceramics by Royce McGlashen, Hayley Hamilton, Mike Cogswell and Renée Boyd;
- Lighting by David Trubridge and Chan Andreassend;
- Carrol Boyes functional art made of pewter, cast steel and stainless steel;
- Accessories by Tamsin Cooper, Moth and Caroline Mitchell; and
- Original artworks by local and nationally based artists.
Please note postage is FREE within New Zealand for upto 4 items.
As many of you, our customers, come from all over New Zealand and abroad, we realise that to be able to continue enjoying your experience with us, you need to see what products and artworks we have available. So to showcase these products and artworks outside the walls of the gallery in Mount Maunganui, we now use the virtual world of the internet and our on-line store.
